Flesh scored from bone by the blaze

Swathes of panicked men

Far too many fucking times
Seen it all go down in flames
Heard the cries of the ending of an age

Felt the ash fill my lungs as I watched
The tears of all the children never born
Silenced in a final sudden gasp
As I pray desperately it’s the last

And I see flame
Flickering cross your face
And I can’t bear it any longer
I watch the stars wink out one by one
Knowing that I’ll have to start again tomorrow
But this one night I wasn’t alone

I can see in your eyes

Trapped in this all-collapsing refrain
