I awake to a blue sky. The sound of birds, the crash of waves. Another morning, another beautiful morning.

The breath is fresh in my lungs, the sun warm on my skin as I walk through the threshold of what I once knew as my home, now a hollow shell of what it was.

As the world thrives and lives around me I cannot help but consider yet again that I must watch it all fade. I must watch this all turn to naught but dust and ash in the wind, and I must listen yet again as the man on the radio proclaims that this will not be the end. That this will not be our downfall, that this will not be what brings us to ruin, that this will not be our final great day.

Yet here I am staring at a sky that will soon be red, then black, wishing I could do anything but watch, and wishing you could do anything but die.
